Blog Posts Newcastle United Retro Football Shirts: Made in Gateshead! We are pleased to announce that TOFFS have secured a deal with Newcastle United that will enable us to increase our range of retro NUFC shirts over the next few weeks. We will be growing the range from 1st March 2012. TOFFS will be undertaking meticulous research as ever to ensure the shirts made are direct recreations of the original shirts, and of course the TOFFS quality will be evident throughout. TOFFS’ Headquarters is just 5 minutes from Newcastle United’s commercial offices and 10 only a short 10 minute drive to St James’ Park and so we are pleased to be representing the North East, in the North East! If you have a favourite Newcastle United shirt from the past that you would like to see for sale at TOFFS then e-mail us at enquiries@toffs.com New York Cosmos Vintage Range 18th January 2012 Today we have launched the Vintage New York Cosmos ‘PELE 10’ range. We have three shirts from the 1970s when the Cosmos were described as ‘the most glamorous team in World Football’ This New York Cosmos Vintage range embodies the New York swagger with the classic Cosmos detailing in a slim fit to ensure you stay comfortable as you aim to emulate the skills of Honorary Club President, former player and World Great ‘Pele’ out on the pitch. You can see the range here Carling Cup January 12th 2012 The Carling Cup semi-finals have been thoroughly entertaining to watch. It is great that Crystal Palace or Cardiff City have the chance to play against one of the English Premier Leagues top sides in Manchester City or Liverpool. Both ties were won by a solitary goal meaning the second leg will inevitably be somewhat cagey. Back to business at TOFFS – we are pleased to say we have once again teamed up with Umbro to bring you the Manchester City 1989-90 Retro Football Shirt with ‘Brother’ Sponsor, the shirt is of great quality and has been very well received by the Man City fans. You can see the shirt here October 24th 2011 As you can see below, we have just selected a snippet of the blog posts over the last two years, and we will be updating the blog a lot more regularly going forward. I wanted to take this opportunity to let you know about some other ways to keep in touch too: You can add yourself to our mailing list by entering your e-mail address and details on the Toffs home page. You can also find us on Facebook by clicking here And you can follow us on Twitter by clicking here You can also send general enquiries to enquiries@toffs.com Or contact Sales & Marketing by e-mailing dale.robinson@toffs.com Kids Retro Football Shirts and ‘Big Man’ range October 3rd 2011 Just a quick note to let you know there are now over 250 styles of classic retro shirt available in Children’s sizes on the website. Not only that, but because of the way we manufacture 90% of our shirts here, we have also increased our size range options to accommodate the ‘larger man’ – these really are ‘made to order’ garments and can not be found anywhere else! We have many shirts now available on the website up to 5 XL (64 inch chest) and again, if there is something you have in mind that you don’t see, just ask! Football Clubs September 20th 2011 We have met with lots of Football Clubs recently and are pleased to now be working with Stoke City, Oldham Athletic, Rochdale AFC, and renewing our license deal with Wolverhampton Wanderers. It is always interesting to meet with the clubs, many of them love the TOFFS brand name and product, and some commercial managers called the shirts their ‘personal preference’ but unfortunately many clubs can not always find the budget to stock TOFFS retro shirts in their club shops. TOFFS realise these shirts are often your clubs crown jewels. TOFFS don’t use cheap fabric or add polo shirt style side vents. TOFFS’ classic kits are real football retro for real football fans. We want to give the fan the opportunity to own the shirt that was worn by their heroes. Our shirts don’t fade into a distant memory after the first few washes – you may pay a little more for TOFFS’ QUALITY but our shirts STAND OUT FROM THE CROWD – GAME AFTER GAME AFTER GAME! Cass Pennant September 4th 2011 We bumped in to Cass Pennant last week in London – the author and actor is a huge West Ham fan and loves TOFFS retro shirts – why wouldn’t he? Alan had a good chat with Cass, and he is currently making an order! Business trip to Kuwait April 13th 2011 Alan and Michele visited Kuwait last week, to cement a partnership with Kuwaiti based G7. Their CEO, Tareq Al-Awaadi was able to organise a meeting with Al-Sabah Sheikh Ahmad, who is the President of the Kuwaiti Football Association. Alan and Michele took along a Sir Bobby Robson Football, and a signed Alan Shearer Shirt as gifts. “It was an honour to meet with such an eminent member of the Global Football World – we had a 30 minute discussion about all things Football, and were then photographed and interviewed for the Kuwait Times” “Kuwait is a burgeoning country with a great passion for football. The TOFFS Arabic website will be launched in 2011” Toffs Expand into the Middle East March 16th 2011 The March edition of Catalogue and e-business picked up on TOFFS’ new website and indeed our plans to expand into Russian and Arabic. The magazine article also gave the new look website rave reviews, with real time stock levels, enhanced user navigation, great search functionality and an excellent after-order service all cited as huge improvements. New website: January 8th 2011 The brand new TOFFS website will be launched this month! Be sure to sign up to our mailing list, or follow us on Twitter and Facebook to be one of the first visitors. World Cup 2010 January 4th 2010 A tremendous end to 2009 – Christmas was the best we have had for years and due to our enhanced working practices we are delighted to announce a 100% fulfilment rate for Christmas gifts. A big well done to all of the staff here at TOFFS, you really are the best retro football team in the world. So, what for 2010? The WORLD CUP of course! Don’t forget, we are the largest re-seller of official England retro classic kits anywhere on the web, so try us first for availability. We wish you all a Happy and Prosperous 2010. Dean Ashton December 11th 2009 We are saddened to hear that promising footballer Dean Ashton has had to retire due to injury at just 26 years old. Dean had fantastic ability and was undoubtedly going to be an England regular. He will be a loss to the game and our thoughts are with him this week. You can’t change history – FACT! November 12th 2009 I received an e-mail this morning from a Football Shirt based website informing me of discounts on Premier League team kits – I couldn’t help but feel that history is repeating itself. We started TOFFS in 1990 for this very reason – teams were changing their kits 2-3 times a season – that is why TOFFS became an overnight success, because history does not change. We also had a call from a customer this morning, asking if we could recreate a shirt from 1999, ‘’didn’t you buy one first time round?’’ I said. He explained that he had it, but lost it, or thrown it out. This brought me round to think about the throw-away society that we are fast becoming – I wonder how many Football Shirts get thrown out just because ‘the new one’ is coming out in a few weeks. A TOFFS retro football shirt is for this season, next season, and way beyond! Bryan Robson November 9th 2009 Many thanks to one of our customers for sending us this image of him and Bryan Robson in Thailand this week. Ex Manchester United and England captain ‘Robbo’ knows TOFFS well and was happy to have his photograph taken with Matt, the proud owner of a vintage Wanderers shirt from 1872. Have you got a photo? Send it to Dale Robinson and we will publish it on the site – dale.robinson@toffs.com Sir Bobby Robson 31st July 2009 Former England manager Sir Bobby Robson has sadly passed away at the age of 76 after a long battle with cancer. Sir Bobby will be remembered for so many reasons. He led England to the 1990 World Cup Semi-Final, as well as winning the FA Cup and UEFA cup with Ipswich Town. Some will say his main love was Newcastle United, where he is absolutely idolised and will never be forgotten. We would like to pay a special tribute to Sir Bobby Robson – “I am lucky enough to have met this great man, a true Gentleman, and a true and honest football person – someone who today’s ‘stars’ should aspire to emulate” – Michele Finch (Director, TOFFS) Day 27 – Big Brother goes RETRO July 4th 2009 Last week you may have noticed Kris and Charlie from Big Brother wearing TOFFS Italy shirts as part of the Italian themed shopping task. Here is a picture of the pair wearing the classic 1970s shirt. TOFFS - Value for money June 18th 2009 Things certainly are not slowing down here at TOFFS HQ! One of our customers told me today “you can’t beat quality Michele, give customers value for money and they will remember you” – this was on the back of him ordering his 8th TOFFS shirt. In the current climate, everyone is looking for a bargain. TOFFS shirts represent outstanding value for money. The majority of our classic retro football shirts are hand made here in Gateshead by our own machinists. The fabric we use comes from the UK too, and we even have our own embroidery machine, which means we can create custom badges/designs for you, or even badges for your own strips! You can let us know what you want and we will take it from there, just e-mail us at enquiries@toffs.com – call us on 0191 491 3500. Let’s see if Ronaldo and Kaka prove to be value for money at Real Madrid. Wyn ‘The Leap’ Newcastle United Legend visits TOFFS June 1st 2009 Last week we had a visit from Wyn Davies – part of the 1969 team that won the Fairs Cup with Newcastle United. We were showing Wyn the special edition classic shirt we have created to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of that great game – he loved it!! Wyn has long since retired from the game, but in the 1960s and 1970s he was the archetypal target man. With his well developed aerial abilities he earned the nickname ‘Wyn the leap’ Newcastle United won the Fairs Cup 6-2 on aggregate and the special edition shirt comes with all the players’ names embroidered on to the front of it.
